Examples of common mobility lifts.
This is an example of an outside manual wheelchair lift mounted to a hitch on the rear of the vehicle. There is a small platform which lowers to the ground. The wheelchair is then place on the platform, secured, and then raised. Weight capacity ranges from maximum of 70 to 85 lbs.
This is an example of an inside scooter lift called a Curbsider. The lift has an offset arm which allows the scooter to be raised while it is parallel to the passenger side of the vehicle. Once the scooter is raised, it can be swung into the back of the vehicle, in this case a mini-van. This particular model has a motorized base which powers the scooter into the vehicle. (An additional motor drives a gear which surrounds the lower part of the post.) More inexpensive lifts of this type utilize manual swing (elbow grease) to get the scooter inside. Heavier scooters or powerchairs require more strength to swing manually so careful consideration should be given the strength of the person doing the loading. Weight capacity ranges from maximum of 250 to 300 lbs.
This is an example of a manual swing lift. It does not have a power base or an offset arm to lift the scooter or power wheelchair along the passenger side. The post is straight up from the floor and the boom or lifting arm extends straight out from the post. As mentioned above, careful consideration should be given to the strength of the person who must push the equipment into the vehicle. If a person lacks the strength to push the scooter or powerchair into the vehicle, then a power base or an outside lift should be considered. Weight capacity: 300 lbs.

This is an example of
a manual swing trunk lift (Bruno Scooter Lift Jr. shown) designed to lift the scooter into the trunk of a car. Like the above
lift, the scooter is manually swung into the trunk. Notice the model of the car: a Cadillac with
a large trunk. Even more importantly, notice that the scooter has the seat removed.
(To operate this lift on their own, the individual must be capable of removing and putting
the seat on.) The width of the trunk must be able to fit both the scooter and lift. This type
of lift can also be set up for rear entry into a van or mini-van. The Scooter Lift Jr.
can also be set up for SUV's, station wagons, Suburbans, or other low ceiling vehicles

This is also an
example of a manual trunk lift designed to lift the scooter into the trunk of a car. Unlike
the above lift, it utilizes an offset arm like the Curbsider which allows more space for the
scooter. Notice the model of the car: a midsize with an average sized trunk. The scooter is
compact in size. The seat is also removed.

- This is an example of an outside scooter lift designed to lift
the scooter with a platform which is secured to a class 3 hitch mounted to the rear frame of the
car. The platform is lowered to the ground, the scooter is driven on to platform, and the
platform is then raised up. This type of lift must scrutinized very carefully since improper
application can result in making the car unsafe to drive or cause damage to the suspension of
the vehicle. If set up properly, these lifts allow a person to transport their scooter or
powerchair with effortless loading and unloading. This lift also eliminates any assembly and
disassembly of the scooter or powerchair.
Our outside lifts range in price from $1095 to $1695 depending on the manufacturer.
Extra large 30 x 50 in. beds available. Installation not included.
We hope these examples give you an idea of some of the options available for transporting
your equipment. Please give up the opportunity to quote on your lift purchase. Thank you!
